Today at 14:00 Kirk, Robert and I had a meeting in his workshop.
Kirk talked to a representative of Lintech (http://www.lintechmotion.com)
before and they were suggesting:

 84" belt driven rod (180 series) ~ $3400 w/o motor
 Motor controller ~ $2500
                                     -------
                                     ~ $6000 !!!!

Even if we use a 48" travel instead of 84", it gets only $800 cheaper ....
Remember, this is only the price for the parts, no machining included ....
Sure, we can and will find something cheaper, but even with $3000 it's quite a lot.
Hhhmmm, maybe we should just borrow the UVA scanner if we can get a hold of it ...
