The following black and white pictures are pictures of the rectangular laser taken with a CCD camera using no aperture and later using an aperture made of razor blades. The false color images are of the beam using LabVIEW. The aperture consists of two vertical razor blades secured in the front (as seen) with two additional blades in the back aligned horizontally to create a reasonably good rectangular aperture. Further down, are pictures of the beam being blocked by gauge blocks in front of them. I am currently working on using a photodiode behind the aperture to see if I can get repeatable changes in voltage produced by gauge blocks of various heights being placed in the way of the beam. This of course requires a beam that is parallel to the surface of the frame, which is proving to be quite challenging.
