I have used 3D SolidWorks models (http://www.3dcontentcentral.com) for building
a first draft of our wire scanner.

Ball Screw Assembly : Nook 631-0200 XPR RH
0,631inch ball screw, max length 72 inch, preloaded nut (no backslash), simple mount
                      (see http://www.nookindustries.com/ball/BallAssemblies.cfm)

Bearing : Lintech SA12-48 (2x24 inch)

Translation stage : Newport 460 P-X-05, ~1 inch travel range

Weight: ~40kg !!

=> To do: extend the lasertable with struts, so the wire scanner can be mounted/operated while the stringing frame
is still mounted on the lasertable. Allows correction/replacement of wires on the spot.
