Progress Report of Region3
1) VDC drawings
- upgraded to SolidWorks 2005
- allows me to draw flexible Kapton boards for
wire readout (board can be bens within SW)
- SolidWorks model of the lasertable and wire scanner (elog) .
-Joe Katich is still working on the microscope lense system. He
ordered/got severval lenses, holders and a mounting tube.
We are aiming for a minimum wire-lense distance of ~10mm
and a magnification factor of ~100.
2) Garfield Simulation
- found some bugs in the VDC setup (small position offset of the wire
array)
- written a C++ class for reading in the raw Garfield XT output file (elog).
This will superseds Carissa's Maple script for
converting it into ROOT readable format
3) Geant4 simulation progress
- Got the Geant4/Root simulation package of PANDA (Proton
ANtiproton at DArmstadt , GSI, Germany).
PANDA is using fused silica slabs ( like DIRC@Babar) with
PMT readout in the simulation.
Allows me to compare how they have implemented the
cerenkov detector (readout) in Geant4.
- Started to add the Main Magnet support structure into QweakSimG4
based on (12/05/2004) Stan's SolidWorks drawings (elog)
Geant4-Lession learned: only subtract simple bodies; incorrect
visualization when using merge objects for subtraction .

That's all folks !
